Make Tib St more safe and pedestrian friendly
We the undersigned petition the Council to Why Pedestrianisation is Necessary:
1. Safety Concerns – Tib Street’s footpaths are extremely narrow, often forcing pedestrians to step onto the road, which is immediately exposed to traffic emerging from one of Manchester’s busiest ring roads. This creates a significant safety hazard.
2. Encouraging a Thriving Local Economy – Tib Street is home to vibrant independent shops, cafes, and businesses. A pedestrian-friendly environment would make it easier for people to stroll, shop, and engage with local businesses without the risk and disruption of through traffic.
3. Enhancing the Public Space – A pedestrianised Tib Street would provide a more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable space for residents and visitors alike, fostering a sense of community and making the area more attractive.
5. Reducing Traffic Congestion and Pollution – Limiting vehicle access during daytime hours would help lower emissions and noise pollution, contributing to a cleaner and healthier city centre.
