These electronic advertising boards both block pedestrian walkways and use a huge amount of energy. As per data from 2022 each of the 86 digital advertising boards uses 11,501kWh of electricity every year, which is equivalent to the average energy usage of 3 households. Manchester City Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and aims to become 'zero carbon' by 2038. The continued used of these advertising boards do not align with these statements, and we support their removal for the benefit of the pedestrians of Manchester and the planet.
