Workplace Adjustments Policy PDF 104 KB Report of the Director of HROD and Transformation attached Additional documents: Minutes: The Committees considered a report of the Director of HROD and Transformation, which presented a draft Council Workplace Adjustments Policy for formal adoption.
The Chair advised that the draft Workplace Adjustments Policy made clear the Council’s support and commitment to providing workplace adjustments as set out in the Equality Act 2010, which stated that employers must make reasonable adjustments for employees with a disability or long-term health condition and this policy ensures we comply with this.
The draft Workplace Adjustments Policy aimed to ensure that there were robust arrangements in place where an employee shared that they have a disability, long term health issue and / or neurodivergence. It provided information on how to support employees and explained to managers how they could provide support and access the Workplace Adjustments Hub.
The introduction of a Workplace Adjustments Passport ensured that employees’ agreed workplace adjustments were recorded and that they did not need to repeatedly seek approval in the event of a change of role or manager.
Staff network groups had been given the opportunity to comment on the draft policy and formal and informal Trade Union consultation had also taken place. Subject to the policy being approved, the draft policy and guidance would be communicated to all managers with details of training and support.
Councillor Johnson sought clarification as to whether the Policy would cover instances where women suffered from severe period pain. The Director of HROD and Transformation advised that this was not specifically covered by the Equality Act but what the Policy aimed to so was to support an enabling conversation between line mangers and their staff to help support in work health conditions, be they short or long term.
