Decision details
Household Suprt Fund 6 - remaining elements (2024/10/11A)
Decision Maker: Deputy Chief Executive
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
Approval of the delivery of all remaining elements of the Household Support Fund 6 grant allocation of £6.453m in accordance with the grant criteria issued on 24 September 2024 by the Department for Work and Pensions to support vulnerable residents across Manchester impacted by the energy and cost of living crisis.
Decision:
The Deputy Chief Executive approves the funding and administration of all remaining elements of the Household Support Fund 6 grant allocation of £6.453m, (following the approval of the Free School Meal element ), in accordance with the grant criteria issued on 24 September 2024 by the Department for Work and Pensions, to support vulnerable residents across Manchester impacted by the energy and cost of living crisis.
Due to the lateness in the provision of guidance for the allocation of the HSF6 grant and seeking a decision from the Executive would delay the distribution of much needed financial support to families/residents most in need.
The time available to deliver HSF6 means that if the scheme were to progress through the standard Key Decision process there would be a delay in the provision of critical support to Manchester residents. The impact of this could leave residents with insufficient money to meet the cost of day-to-day essential items such as heating and food.
As such the Char of Resources and Governance Scrutiny has agreed to this Key Decision being urgent and also exempt from Call In
