To enter into a flexible contract with SEFE Energy who are appointed as the Council’s commercial gas supplier via the Councils’ Framework Agreement (TC473), for the supply of gas from April 2025 to March 2026.

The City Treasurer agrees to enter into a flexible contract with the SEFE Energy who are appointed as the Council’s commercial gas supplier via Manchester City Councils Framework Agreement (TC473), for the supply of gas from April 2025 to March 2026 in order to implement, in good time, continuous contractual cover for the supply of gas to the Council’s operational buildings and associated organisations (including Manchester schools covered by an SLA).

As energy contract prices are dictated by the wholesale energy market, which still remain very volatile. The Council has a short window to accept a schedule of rates (typically a few hours) and as such the Chair of the Resources and Governance Scrutiny Committee has agreed that the implementation of this decision is urgent and as such has agreed to exempt this decision from Call In.
