Purpose:

To agree the release of £0.600m of COMF £1.1m previously agreed to support the following priorities:

 

·                £0.550m to be allocated to schools to provide supermarket vouchers to be distributed through schools for children and young people eligible for benefit related free school meals.

·                £50k to be allocated to Early Years/Early Help service to support children and families experiencing poverty.

 

And agree the final allocation of the funds in consultation with the Strategic Director of Children and Families

Decision:

The Deputy Chief Executive and City Treasurer agrees to release £0.600m of the £1.1m COMF previously agreed for Free School Meal Funding during October 2021 half term, to support the following priorities:

 

·                £0.550m to be allocated to schools to provide supermarket vouchers to be distributed through schools for children and young people eligible for benefit related free school meals.

·                £50k to be allocated to Early Years/Early Help service to support children and families experiencing poverty.

 

And agrees the final allocation of the funds in consultation with the Strategic Director of Children and Families.

 

This decisions has been deemed as urgent as funds need to be allocated to schools urgently in order for vouchers to be distributed to parents before the October half term.  As such the Chair of Children and Young Peoples Scrutiny has agreed to exempt the decision from the Council’s Call In process.
