Decision Maker: Director of Highways

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

To establish a capital budget to investigate four road collapses across the City and deliver remedial works to make the sites safe and reinstate the highway where the Council has a liability.

Decision:

The Director of Highways agrees to the establishment of  a capital budget to investigate four road collapses across the City and deliver remedial works to make the sites safe and reinstate the highway where the Council has a liability.

All four road collapse sites have caused damage to the highway and nearby properties. The budget requested will enable investigatory and remedial works at all road collapses where liability is identified as with MCC. Where liability can be established, this will be recovered.

Any potential delay to making repairs to the collapses and associated health and safety risks as well as damage to homes and the highway, as such the Chair of Resources and Governance Scrutiny Committee has agreed to this decision being urgent and exempt from Call In.
