The Approval of Capital Spend in order to achieve a reduction in carbon emissions.

The Deputy Chief Executive approves the capital expenditure of £10,068,000 to the Carbon Reduction Programme, which is a programme of investment to make Council buildings more energy efficient. It includes retrofit work to reduce energy use, as well as installation of low carbon energy generation, such as solar panels.  The first phase of the programme covers 13 of the Council’s highest energy consuming buildings.  This investment will pay for itself over time with reduced energy bills, and save in the region of 1,600 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
